Welcome to Summerhaze Alpacas of Ash View Farm.
Where our aim is to help preserve and improve this beautiful animal by breeding to a high quality.
Our vision is to breed and maintain a herd of Huacaya that clip a fleece equal in weight and quality, already seen in white Alpacas, found in the UK today.
With our good selection of different coloured females and through our selective breeding programme, we will anticipate improving on the previous generation year after year.
Through our interest in these pleasing animals we have come across some Alpacas that break all the rules, by disobeying one of the main factors ‘of being a solid colour’. These Alpacas can be striking and we here at Ash View Farm believe they should be acknowledged, not only for their individuality but for their beauty as they stand out in the herd. I know these animals with their fancy markings will not be to everyone’s taste but before you make your mind up, please join us and see what you think!
Welcome to Ash View Farm.
Hello...my name is Jackie; please let me take this opportunity to introduce you to us at Ash View Farm. Firstly I would like to let you know how Ash View Farm started and give you an insight into how things are run, here on our 17 acre smallholding.
Ash View Farm was originally bought for the main purpose of my husband’s business, and the storage of his equipment, with just a dream of farming. But it didn’t take long for me to grab the chance, and bring our first arrivals home to live in this beautiful and tranquil part of Somerset.
Several years on and we now have a selection of livestock ranging from 20 registered Jacob ewes which I breed for their fleece to 9 registered Dexter cows for beef. We have a selection of chickens for fresh eggs and an allotment where we grow a selection of fresh fruit and vegetables which we sell to family and friends, as well as for our own table. Not forgetting Rory and Tojoe our two Shetland ponies which are now semi-retired!
• Lambs are available for sale each year—please contact us for more details.
• Jacob fleece also available for sale—ideal for hand spinning.
• Jacob yarn for sale.
We have now introduced to our farm registered Mangalitza pigs (curly coated pigs) with the intention to help preserve their British historical past, as they are now recognised as a rare breed.
• Registered piglets will be for sale at certain times of the year—contact us for further information.
• Pork available—contact us for more details.
Dexter Beef is available at certain times of the year—details available upon request.
We have grown into a small family managed farm, which developed from a pastime and our passion of animals. It was during this time that we were introduced to Alpacas and from the first meeting fell in love with these incredibly quiet and fascinating creatures. We started off by buying four Alpacas as pets, but now own breeding females and have our own breeding programme in place.
From our land with careful management and timing, we have been able to make our own (chemically free) hay/haylage, mainly for our own animals, but also to sell due to the total number of bales achieved.
Hay is occasionally for sale—please contact us for more details (first come, first served basis).
